About the Author
My name is Shrikant Kumar Vishwakarma, a television and film writer, and the creator and author of the fantasy novel Chhota Vikram Baal Betal.
The idea for Chhota Vikram Baal Betal first came to me nearly ten years ago. At that time, I had already written for several television shows, but the seed of this novel had been growing inside me since childhood.
Ever since I was a young boy, I have been deeply passionate about reading—especially fantasy and adventure stories. In fact, I spent far more time reading novels and comics than studying my school and college textbooks. Looking back, many people might have considered that a distraction, but it eventually became the greatest strength of my life. What began as a childhood hobby gradually transformed into my profession.
I was born and raised in Pandey Tola, Balidih, Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand. Even as a child, I dreamed of becoming a writer. While my friends spent their evenings playing outdoors, I would lose myself in the magical worlds of comic books. Over the years, I have read thousands of comics, each one adding another layer to my imagination and storytelling.
Life eventually allowed me to move to Mumbai. By the grace of God, I was fortunate enough to begin my professional writing career soon after arriving. Over the years, I have written for numerous Indian television productions, including Chandrakanta, Parshuram, Kahat Hanuman Jai Shri Ram, Kaal Bhairav, Gau Mata Kamdhenu, Kaakbhushandi Ramayan, Mata Saraswati, Tirupati Balaji, and most recently Vikram Betal Aur Narpishachini.
Among all the stories I have written, the characters of King Vikram and Betal have always been closest to my heart. Fascinated by their timeless appeal, I read virtually every classic version of the Vikram-Betal tales that I could find. While reading these ancient stories one day, a completely new thought suddenly entered my mind:
What if Vikram and Betal had met as children?
That single question gave birth to the idea of Chhota Vikram Baal Betal.
I began by writing just a few stories around this unique concept. One story led to another, and before I realised it, those adventures had grown into an entire novel. I later self-published the book on Amazon Kindle.
To my surprise and immense happiness, readers began purchasing the book. It wasn't just a single sale—the book sold repeatedly, giving me confidence that the idea had connected with readers.
Then, a few months ago, something happened that I had never imagined.
I received an email from a publishing house in the United States expressing interest in publishing my novel. At first, I could hardly believe it. They contacted me several times because they genuinely loved the concept and believed the story had great potential. Once I confirmed that the offer was genuine, I immediately immersed myself in rewriting and expanding the manuscript.
Following their guidance, I transformed the original work into a much larger and richer manuscript of nearly 600 pages. Throughout this journey, the publisher continued encouraging me with emails asking when the completed manuscript would be ready. Finally, I submitted the book, and it is now undergoing the editorial process.
Their faith in my story inspired me to dream even bigger.
I realised that Chhota Vikram and Baal Betal deserved to become more than the heroes of a single novel. They deserved their own universe.
With that vision in mind, I have officially registered the trademark and logo for Chhota Vikram Baal Betal. This marks the beginning of a long creative journey in which I hope to build an original fantasy world filled with new adventures, unforgettable characters, and countless stories featuring these two beloved heroes.
This is only the beginning.
I sincerely seek the love, blessings, and encouragement of my readers. Your support gives me the strength to continue pursuing the dream that has lived in my heart for so many years.
I hope that one day, Chhota Vikram Baal Betal will grow into a beloved literary universe that inspires children and adults alike, not only in India but across the world.
